Pretty sure this next shot is my favorite.  I love her purple nails!

The colors on the boardwalk are so fun and bright!  I'd love to do a shoot there when we can actually get on the rides :) .

This is another favorite!  We were walking to the car and I asked for one last shot.  Luckily, laying in the middle of the road isn't as dangerous so early in the morning.

Baby Jaxson arrived about two full days later and I can't wait to show you some of his pictures.  He's absolutely perfect.

]]> http://www.kellinicolephotography.com/blog/2010/07/27/shannon-and-mike/feed/ 0 A’s Maternity Shoot http://www.kellinicolephotography.com/blog/2010/05/13/as-maternity-shoot/ http://www.kellinicolephotography.com/blog/2010/05/13/as-maternity-shoot/#comments Thu, 13 May 2010 14:21:37 +0000 Kelli Nicole http://www.kellinicolephotography.com/blog/?p=1359 This shoot got rescheduled at least 3 times due to our perfect record of choosing stormy days!  When it finally worked out the weather was perfect.  Oh, it was so nice.  Not hot, not cold, not too sunny, not too cloudy.  Perfect.  It also allowed this mama-to-be to grow a little more!  She's nearly 34 weeks here, can you believe it?  She's so tall that baby has tons of room to stretch out and when she's sitting or laying she hardly looks pregnant (there are a LOT of jealous women out there A!).

We started off the shoot at her apartment complex.  They were so nice and let us use one of the model apartments.  It was ridiculously cute and had great light!

We finished off the shoot at Uptown Park.  I've wanted to shoot here ever since I moved here!  It was really fun and I discovered things I hadn't noticed before.

This next shot is a good example of some of the wonders of post-processing that I thought people would like to see.  I took this picture (below) knowing that I wanted to bring in the background more, but in order to expose for A's face, the background has to be over-exposed.  So I exported this image from Lightroom as is,

and then decreased the exposure significantly and exported this one as well.

I put them together and after a little masking and editing, voila.

We happened to be walking by crave cupcake and I suggested that we get a pink cupcake for A's little cupcake that she's growing.  She said her husband would really like these shots and I know I do!

C came along again and helped me shoot and grabbed this lovely shot while I was focused on the cupcake.

I can't wait for baby to get here!  Expect a beautiful new baby girl to grace this blog in June.

Her husband was able to meet us and we got some adorable pics of them together :) .  As a photographer I don't think she gets many!

These first ones were all taken in their old apartment in Washington - they had amazing light!

Love these next ones... :) .  I imagine every woman who's been pregnant can appreciate these camera angles!

The boat pictures are my favorite!!  While driving to our next location we shouted when we spotted this row boat in the middle of a field.  It was raining (as you may see), but we ran out and shot as fast as possible.  It made us so happy.

April wanted something different and kind of edgy. She found this way cool location, that worked out great because it protected us from the rain (most of the time)!

April and I ran excitedly around the dirty, abandoned building like children (not that you would usually take children to such a place).  It was different than many of my shoots, but it was awesome.

By this point, it was pouring, but it created a really cool reflective look on the cement outside our hiding spot.  Isn't her belly the cutest?

When April went into labor I started getting text updates every now and then. I later found out that I was included on the exclusive texting list for the grandmothers - I was equally as excited! :)

And, before I go, here are some pictures from my most favorite maternity shoot ever with one of my most favorite girls from the photography program at BYU (there are about 4 or 5 favorites, but she definitely ranks up there among them). She lives in Washington now, so it was so much fun to get to do this shoot when I was up there for a wedding!

I did one more that will soon be blogged. My sister has been this 18-month-old's nanny since he was a newborn! He's been featured on this blog several times :) here (one of my first blog posts!), here, and here. This little guy is his cousin, so they both get to be in my show!

I think mom is around 7-8 months pregnant here, doesn't she look amazing?!?



I'm having a hard time choosing one for my project, but I'm leaning towards this one, what to do you think?





I'm kind of in love with his face. Isn't he just beautiful?!
